1. Scope and privacy approach
This Privacy Policy explains how Ardentivo handles personal information in connection with ardentivo.com, editorial correspondence and privacy enquiries. “Ardentivo”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to the publisher of this independent information-only publication. This policy applies to visitors and people who contact the editorial desk. It does not govern websites operated by regulators, support organisations or other third parties to which we link.
Ardentivo is designed around data minimisation. The public website has no reader accounts, gambling products, payment processing, deposits, personalised operator recommendations or active advertising network. A reader can access all published reporting without submitting their name, telephone number or email address.
2. Information that may be collected
Information you provide
If you email an editorial, correction or privacy address, we receive the information contained in the message. This may include your name, email address, organisation, job title, the contents of your enquiry, attachments and any other details you choose to provide. Please avoid sending confidential, highly sensitive or legally privileged information until a secure communication method has been agreed.
The briefing form displayed on the homepage is a non-transmitting interface demonstration. Its JavaScript prevents submission and clears the field locally. The entered address is not sent to Ardentivo, added to a mailing list or written to browser storage.
Technical request information
When a browser requests a page, the hosting or security provider may automatically process standard server data such as an IP address, request time, requested URL, referring page, response status, user-agent string, device or browser category and security indicators. This information is generally necessary to deliver the site, diagnose faults, maintain availability and identify malicious traffic. The launch site itself includes no third-party analytics pixel, advertising tag, session-replay tool or cross-site behavioural tracker.
Information from public and professional sources
For journalism, Ardentivo may work with information contained in legislation, regulatory decisions, company statements, public registers, planning documents, professional profiles and direct interviews. Editorial processing is governed by our accuracy, public-interest and corrections standards. This policy does not promise removal of accurate material merely because a subject disagrees with legitimate reporting, but requests will be considered fairly and consistently with applicable law.
3. Why information is used
Information is used only where reasonably connected with operating and protecting the publication. Purposes may include:
- delivering requested pages and maintaining technical reliability;
- responding to editorial tips, source enquiries, correction requests and general correspondence;
- verifying information and maintaining an accurate editorial record;
- detecting abuse, attempted intrusion, automated attacks or misuse of contact channels;
- meeting legal obligations and establishing, exercising or defending legal rights;
- handling requests under applicable privacy law; and
- improving accessibility, navigation and content structure using non-identifying observations.
Ardentivo does not use reader information to determine gambling eligibility, assess creditworthiness, facilitate wagering or target people on the basis of suspected gambling behaviour. We do not sell personal information.
4. Browser storage and age confirmation
After a reader selects “I am 18 or older”, the site writes one item named ardentivo_age_confirmed to local storage. Its value is “yes”. Local storage is a browser facility similar to, but technically different from, an HTTP cookie. The item remains on the reader's device until browser data is cleared. It is not transmitted to Ardentivo and does not contain a birth date, identity or precise age.
This preference prevents the editorial age notice appearing on every page visit. Blocking or deleting it does not restrict access to reporting; it means the age question may be displayed again. Detailed information is available in our Cookie Policy.
5. Service providers, disclosure and overseas processing
Technical providers may process limited information on our behalf when supplying web hosting, domain resolution, traffic security or business email. Providers should receive only the information required for their role and be subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. Depending on infrastructure configuration, their systems or support personnel may be located outside New Zealand.
Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with a lawful requirement, protect a person's safety, investigate fraud or security abuse, obtain professional advice, or establish and defend legal claims. Ardentivo does not disclose contact details to casino operators for marketing and does not provide data to affiliate gambling programmes.
If the publication is reorganised or transferred, relevant records may form part of that transaction, subject to continuing privacy protections and notice where required.
6. Retention and security
Information should be retained only for as long as it remains reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was obtained, including editorial verification, correspondence history, security investigation, dispute handling and legal obligations. Different records require different periods: routine unanswered correspondence may be deleted sooner than a substantiated correction record or material needed to document the provenance of published reporting.
Reasonable organisational and technical safeguards may include access limitation, strong account authentication, software updates, secure transport, backups and review of provider access. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed absolutely secure. If you believe information sent to Ardentivo has been compromised, contact us promptly and include enough detail to investigate without repeating sensitive material.
7. Your choices and New Zealand privacy rights
Subject to the Privacy Act 2020 and applicable exceptions, an individual may ask whether an agency holds retrievable personal information about them, request access to it and ask for inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information to be corrected. If a requested correction is not made, the individual may be entitled to ask for a statement of correction to be attached. Identity verification may be required before information is released or changed.
A request should identify the person, the relevant interaction or record, the approximate date and the action requested. We will not ask for more identity evidence than is reasonably required. Some information may be withheld where the law permits or requires it, including where disclosure would improperly reveal another person's information, compromise a confidential source or prejudice protected interests.
Privacy concerns can also be raised with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner ↗. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Children, changes and contact
Ardentivo is an adult industry publication and is not directed to people under 18. It does not knowingly request personal information from minors. If a parent or guardian reasonably believes a minor has sent personal information to us, they may contact the privacy desk so the situation can be assessed.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the website, providers, law or editorial operations. The effective date identifies the current version. A material change to collection or use should be explained prominently before or when it takes effect.
